(1938) Recent law school graduates James Pike and Henry Fischer, office
mates at the SEC in Washington, create a manuscript for a case reporting
service on the new Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
(1939) Chicago legal publisher Callaghan & Co. agrees to publish the
reporter. Pike and Fischer hire John W. Willis to be the principal editor
for their new company. The Federal Rules Service is launched.
(1941) P&F creates Administrative Law, a new case reporter. New York legal
publisher Mathew Bender agrees to publish the new service.
(1942-45) The company launches a new service covering actions of the Office
of Price Administration.
(1946) Pike leaves the business and is ordained to the priesthood. In 1958,
he will be installed as Bishop of California.
(1948) P&F launches Radio Regulation, a case reporter for the communications
bar.
(1952) Ad Law 2d Series is launched as P&F takes over publication of
Administrative Law from Mathew Bender.
(1961) Shipping Regulation, a case reporter for the maritime bar, is
launched.
(1964) Radio Regulation 2d Series is launched.
(1965) P&F expands its relationship with Callaghan, launching the new
Uniform Commercial Code Reporting Service.
(1977) The company launches a third reporter, the Federal Rules of Evidence
Service, for Callaghan.
(1979) Thomson International acquires Callaghan & Co.
(1984) Henry Fischer retires. P&F is acquired by The Bureau of National
Affairs, Inc.
(1985) "Desk Guide to the Fairness Doctrine," P&F’s first book product, is
published.
(1986) Broadcast Rules Service is launched.
(1988) Private Radio Rules Service is launched.
(1989) Ad Law 3d Series is launched.
(1990) Cable TV Rules Service is launched.
(1991) P&F acquires the Green Markets and Dealer Report newsletters from
McGraw-Hill.
(1992) "FCC Fee Finder" and "FCC Deadliner," the company’s first software
products, are released. "Interactive FCC Forms on Disk" will follow later
in the year.
(1992) Thomson International purchases West Publishing Co.
(1993) P&F launches Green Markets Electronic Edition, the company’s first
electronic publication.
(1995) Communications Regulation, the successor to Radio Regulation 2d
Series, is launched.
(1997) Commercial Environmental & Land Use Law Report (CELULR), then known
as Telecom Land Management Law Report, is launched.
(1999) Internet Law & Regulation, the company’s first web-based service, is
launched.
(2000) Communications Regulation web edition is launched.
(2001) Digital Discovery & E-Evidence is launched.
(2002) P&F acquires Rules Service Company.
(2003) P&F acquires Broadband Intelligence, Inc.
(2004) P&F redesigns and launches five new legal web reference services, including its flagship Communications Regulation product.
VoIP Monitor, a weekly electronic only publication covering voice over IP technology is launched, and the company announces the formation of a new consulting
division -- The Communications Media Analysis Group
(2005) P&F, Inc. becomes a division of IOMA, Inc., a subsidiary of The Bureau of National Affairs.
